We believe that Hendricken offers the best opportunities for young men to grow in body, mind and spirit.
But don't take our word for it -- here's what current and formers students have to say about Hendricken:
Hendricken is a great place for physical, spiritual and academic growth for young men…I can’t wait to go there!
E. J. Mercure ’16 (future Hawk)
There is a sense of connection with my spiritual life. Hendricken is a nurturing community which has helped me grow into a "good" man.
James Patefield ’09
It’s been 40 years since I graduated from Hendricken. What I like best is seeing a classmate I haven’t seen for a long time and once we start talking, I get the feeling that we just left each other yesterday. Hendricken was that special.

We lived in CT for 17 years, and as my two sons were growing up, I always wanted them to have the same great experience and education that I, and my two brothers, received from Hendricken some 26 years ago. So, when my oldest son, Tom, was at the end of his 8th grade, I decide to move the family back to RI. They could have the same chances I did by being in the best all round environment for becoming a good and solid man that will be able to contribute to this world in the years to come.

Old soccer line—“you will never walk alone.” Once a Hendricken person you will always have faith, friends, teachers, and coaches by your side.
Mickey Rooney, BHHS Coach and Hall of Fame Member
For me, Hendricken has always been a place where each student matters, and no one slips through the cracks. Teachers are always talking about their students, whether over lunch in the faculty room, in the corridor, or walking a golf course. It's a great school because of the [faculty] who work here. [They are] people who have great faith and aren't afraid to evangelize, people who have a passion for their subject curriculum, and people who love kids. BHHS is a sacred place, for sure, and God's presence is so apparent in the colleagues that I have come to know and respect so much.

Hendricken’s main purpose is to help develop oneself and move into places by following the Creator’s lead. The Hendricken man is unself-centered.

When you see all those boys together in navy blazers in the morning getting out of their cars, kissing their mothers good bye and walking into a building that is truly on hallowed ground, it brings you to a place of gratitude for the gift of faith and God. Many prayers of thanksgiving have been said as I make my way back home, knowing my boys were in a school that is a continuum of what our family believes in—all that is good comes from God.
Martha Murray, Parents’ Council Member and parent of Michael ’06 and Philip ’11 Murray
Bishop Hendricken was truly the best years of my life growing up. Since returning to Hendricken as part of the Advancement staff, the 21-year absence has been like a coming home journey of sorts. The experiences and life lessons that I learned as a student helped guide me through my life as a father, a husband, a brother, a son and a friend.
Peter J. Thomas ’86, Assistant Director of Institutional Advancement and Alumni Association Member
The one thought that always comes to the front of my mind, is the friendships that have been formed [at Hendricken] and will always be. Regardless of any challenge that life may deliver, we will always have a common link of faith and friendship.

Bishop Hendricken High School gave me an educational experience of a lifetime. It opened the door to my future and gave me the roadmap to navigate the journey once I crossed the threshold. I continue to find myself on paths that cross with best friends and great memories all made during my time here. I hope to be able to continue to give back to a mission that called so much out of me and shapes who I am today.
Brian Cordiero ’99, BHHS Director of Arts and Alumni Association Member
It is only after the passage of time that we realize the significance of the events that took place in our formative years at BHHS. We will forever reflect on all the events and the people we met that influenced us to be the person we are today. We often hear timing is everything. Having BHHS open in time for my first year of High school was truly a blessing.

I always enjoy starting off my [Admissions] fall travel season with Bishop Hendricken High School. The young gentlemen you have always provide me with great entertainment, while still remaining professional when inquiring about our university. You have done a fantastic job preparing them for success in their future.
Tara Postorino, Assistant Director of Admissions/New England, Seton Hall University
Hendricken equals opportunity, opportunity for young men to grow scholastically, spiritually and athletically. As the varsity swim coach for the past thirty years I have had the privilege and honor to coach highly motivated and outstanding young men, and enjoy tremendous support from the faculty, staff and parents. Bishop Hendricken is truly a school community rich in tradition, sportsmanship and opportunity.
Dave Hanson, BHHS Coach and Hall of Fame Member
The teachers and staff are extremely committed and dedicated to the students and the mission of BHHS. [It is] a place where your son will be safe and part of a welcoming community, a place where young men are prepared for the future, [a place with an] academically challenging curriculum, and an environment that may change your son's life.
Tom and Laurel Patefield, Parents’ Council Member and parents of James Patefield ’09
Hendricken was a place where I learned that it is important to see God in everyone that I meet throughout the day. It also provided me with the solid academic background necessary for my later successes.
Dan Corley ’71 and Hall of Fame Member
Hendricken develops the mind, the body and the Catholic faith of young men from one generation to the next.

Our mission calls us to reach out to each and every individual on our campus so we might bring them into a closer relationship With God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I’ve seen this happen every day I walk through our halls—through human interaction God allows His miracles to take place—not large miracles, but everyday miracles. I’ve witnessed the grace of God at work between teacher and student, coach and athlete, teachers and parents. God never gives up on any of us and I have seen our staff take that same approach with every student who walks our halls, participates in our activities, plays on our teams, performs on our stage. Bishop Hendricken is a sacred place—we tread on holy ground—we know our God is alive and well on our campus.
Brother Thomas Leto, CFC, President
As a parent, I have witnessed my son’s formidable development in the progression of responsibility and maturity which is diametrically linked to Hendricken’s unyielding expectations. He entered his freshman year with a strong, solid foundation and the serious learning environment in the classroom has already made an indelible mark on his future. When other parents ask me how my son likes BHHS, I reply that he loves it so much he bleeds green and gold. Hendricken is an important part of my son’s life today and I am convinced it will continue to be a source of camaraderie and pride in the future.
Fran Pacheco-Fogarty, Parents’ Council Member and parent of Ian Fogarty ’10
"I think this would be a great place for you," a teaching colleague at St. Brendan's School said as she showed me an article from the newspaper about Bishop Hendricken. She was correct. My time here has given me lasting friendships, wonderful professional opportunities and countless memories. It is a special place and to be a part of it has been incredibly rewarding. Bishop Hendricken is the best thing to happen to me since Roosevelt! Often times you hear that a teacher can touch young people's lives. If in my tenure I may have pointed some young men in the right direction, it could not equal the young men that I have encountered as students and players who have touched my life and enriched it immeasurably. God has indeed blessed me.
