I am so glad that you are interested in Bishop Hendricken High School and I encourage you to explore all that the school has to offer!  I am sure you will find helpful information on these pages as you look at your educational options and make this very important decision for your future.

As the regions' premier all boy's Catholic college preparatory high school, we have a proud heritage of attracting gifted, spirited and involved young men.         A powerhouse in academics and fine arts as well as athletics, you will find opportunities to excel in just about any field of interest!  Ultimately, our quality academic programs, community spirit and outstanding college placement provide our graduates with a solid foundation for life-long success.

After exploring online, I encourage you to come for a visit to experience Hendricken in person.  As part of the admissions process, we invite you to spend a day by shadowing a current student or joining other students in our "Hawk for a Day" program. We also invite the whole family to attend an Admissions Open House to meet faculty, staff and students, take a tour, and learn more about academic and student life.

F.A.Q.

1. What are the hours of the school day?

The school day begins at 8:10 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Teachers are available after school for additional help upon request.

2. Is there a dress code?

Parents are responsible for seeing that their son is dressed suitably. Students are required to wear a dress jacket, dress shirt, a tie, dress pants, shoes (only shoes that come below the ankle are acceptable), socks and a belt. Specific dress code information is handed out to new families at orientation day.

3. What is tuition?

The tuition for the 2011-2012 school year is $11,650. Bishop Hendricken recognizes that tuition can put a financial strain on some families who want a Hendricken education for their sons. In order to assist these families, approximately one quarter of our student body receives some financial assistance.

4. How do I apply for financial aid?

5. Are there any scholarships awarded?

Bishop Hendricken awards annually ten academic scholarships to incoming freshmen based on academic ability.

The Alumni Association awards one Alumni Scholarship annually to an incoming freshman. This scholarship is based on need and academic achievement. In order for a student to be considered for the scholarship, his family must qualify for financial assistance.

The Healey Scholarship is a full four year tuition scholarship awarded annually to a student who demonstrates high academic ability and financial need. Financial aid qualification is required.

6. Are athletic scholarships available?

There are no scholarships given for athletic programs.

7. How are students selected for admission?

Students generally need average grades along with satisfactory placement test scores and a recommendation from current teachers to be considered. Bishop Hendricken does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, national or ethnic origin.

8. Is lunch provided on campus?

Bishop Hendricken offers students the option of buying their lunch or breakfast at school. Vending machines are available. Students can also bring their lunch from home. All students eat lunch in the cafeteria.

9. Is transportation provided?

Students come to Hendricken every morning from as far as Westerly and Seekonk, while others come from close by. Bus service is free to and from the following cities and towns:

  • West Warwick

Bishop Hendricken contracts with First Student Transportation for transportation to and from the areas listed below. The fee for the school year 2010-2011 is $475. The fee for the Newport area is $575.
