The Arts Program at Bishop Hendricken
Bishop Hendricken High School is home to one of the fastest growing co-curricular arts programs offered to high school students. The Drama, Music, Visual Arts, and Media Arts programs afford a student of any talent or interest the opportunity to expand his intellectual and cultural background. Our comprehensive program provides the tools and opportunities for young men to explore their creative potential, express themselves dynamically, discover an appreciation for culture and beauty, and gain a better understanding of who they are and the unique talents that God has given to them.
Bishop Hendricken High School provides students with exceptional opportunities to showcase their abilities through a year-long season of arts activities. Each year we produce a fall play, Fall Battle of the Bands, Christmas choral and band concerts, winter student play festival, spring chorus and band concert, spring musical, Spring Battle of Bands, as well as, frequent student arts nights. Our students also have the opportunity to get involved in the Visual Arts club, Technical Theater opportunities, or film, edit and star in the yearly movie created in our own HAWKEYE Movie Studio.
At the core of the arts curriculum is our extensive ARTS TRACK program that allows students of potential and interest to continue throughout their four years to develop an ongoing portfolio of artistic work. This track program is the cornerstone in helping future professional artists build a resume and showcase their talent to the nation’s top arts training programs. For students who are going off to other fields of study, this track program showcases the well-rounded scholar as an artist.
The Arts Program clearly helps to build the Hendricken Man in the renaissance spirit of developing the total person-“heart, mind, soul, and body.” Our students take part in our programs before, during, and after school. Regardless of talent or ability, we aim to bring the very best out of each one of our students by offering him the very best faculty, facility, and experience.
