The philosophy of the Hendricken athletic program is rooted in the mission of the school. Athletics are an important component in the development of the total person: heart, mind, soul and body. Athletics are a tool used to develop each member of athletic community and bring him into a stronger relationship with our God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Bishop Hendricken offers a comprehensive and excellent athletic program with a total of forty teams in fourteen league and two club sports.  The school is a member of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League and is the only school in the league to field teams in all fourteen league sports at the highest level of competition offered by the league. In its pursuit of excellence, Hendricken has amassed a legendary record of success in athletics, winning over 140 Rhode Island state championships in all fourteen league sports over the past thirty-two years.

The school also offers superior athletic facilities including:

  • two full gymnasiums
  • a state-of-the-art weight training facility
  • two baseball fields
  • five tennis courts
  • an all weather track and field facility
  • Rhode Island’s first high school artificial turf game field which was installed in 2006
