Hendricken Students Honored for Spanish Proficiency

Nineteen
Bishop Hendricken students, representing all four classes were
recognized as winners of the National Spanish Examination offered this
spring.
The
students earned four gold, 10 silver and five bronze medals on the exam
building on a Bishop Hendricken tradition of success at the national
level.
“This
is probably the best our students have ever done on the National
Spanish Exam,” said modern language department head Joseph M. Theroux,
’82. We’re proud of the students and their teachers for preparing so
well. The students stayed after school to participate in the exams, and
that shows their commitment to language studies.”
The
National Spanish Examination was offered to 143,641 students, said
national exam director Kevin Cessna-Buscemi. The exam is offered each
year by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.

Level II
