Date: 07/10/2012
Former Bishop Hendricken baseball star Evan Marzilli, '09, made his pro baseball debut July 3 and singled in his at-bat.
Marzilli's
start came with the Missoula (Mont.) Osprey, the Class-A Pioneer League
affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The franchise chose Marzilli in
the eighth round of June's Amateur Draft and signed him later that
month.
After
his All-State career as a Hawk, Marzilli spent three years as an
outfielder at the University of South Carolina. He was a two-time
selection to the Southeastern Conference All-Defensive Team. His
Gamecocks team reached the championship round of the College World
Series in all three of his seasons, winning twice.
