Applications for admission are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year and we encourage you to contact the Admissions Office if you are applying after January 1st for freshman admission the following September. Transfer candidates should also contact the Admissions Office to schedule an interview, whether applying for September or January admission.
There is a $35 application and exam registration fee that should be included with your application. Please make checks payable to BishopHendricken High School.
Please use the enclosed envelope to return your application, exam registration and transcript release form, or mail the completed application to: Office of Admissions, Bishop Hendricken High School, 2615 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, RI 02889.
The Admissions Office will request transcripts and a teacher recommendation from your school after the entrance examination in December. A parent release is included on the transcript release and exam registration form. Additional recommendations are not required but you may submit them directly to the Office of Admissions if you wish.
All students applying to the 9th and 10th grade are required to take the Catholic High School Placement Test, or HSPT. The exam will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 8:15 a.m. Applicants are strongly advised to take the Entrance Exam at their first choice school. Students who take the exam at Bishop Hendricken High School will be given priority consideration for admissions, merit scholarships and financial aid review.
A note about merit scholarships: Bishop Hendricken offers over 20 merit scholarship awards to incoming freshmen based on their performance in the top 3 -5% on the entrance exam taken here at Hendricken.
Students applying for the 11th grade are not required to take the entrance exam. Instead, candidates for the 11th grade should submit their transcripts, most recent standardized testing, and two letters of recommendation from current teachers.
Students who complete the application process by January 1st will be considered among the first pool of applicants, and notification letters will be mailed on January 25, 2013. After this date, Admissions decisions will be made on a space-available, rolling basis, for the followingSeptember. Families are strongly encouraged to begin the admissions process in the fall of the 8th grade year if applying for freshman admissions.
