College planning is an integral part of every Hendricken students’ four year experience.
Guidance counselors advise students on appropriate course selection, guide students through self assessment tools and begin career and college discussions early on to help younger students prepare for the college admission process. Our juniors and seniors participate in group and individual activities with the guidance staff to learn more about the college application process.
In the junior year, the college admission process becomes more formal, beginning with a meeting between the student, the student’s parents, and our college advisors. Appropriate college matches are discussed and advice given relative to each student’s academic interests and personal goals. Several evening programs for junior and senior parents, offering information on the college admission and financial aid process, are also held each year.
Additionally, every September, we host the largest private college fair in the country, bringing one hundred and twenty five college representatives to Hendricken to meet with our juniors and seniors. Another eighty college and university representatives come to our campus throughout the fall to meet with interested seniors. Our seniors also receive a weekly newsletter to remind them of upcoming deadlines, scholarship opportunities and college admission activities. An Alumni Career Day program is also held annually to connect Hendricken juniors with our alumni, who represent a variety of professions, for career and college planning advice.
