Rugby is a popular spring club sport which annually attracts more than fifty participants. The team travels to tournaments around New England on spring weekends and plays a regular schedule of home and away games with mostly Massachusetts high school teams.

In 2013 the team traveled to the United Kingdom to play in rugby’s homeland. In 2016, the program traveled to South Africa. Hendricken won the New England Rugby championship in 2010 and earned its third Bishop Hendricken High School’s rugby team earned its third Massachusetts Youth Rugby Organization (MYRO) championship since 2011 with a 43-8 victory over Essex County at Foley Stadium in Worcester. The Hawks won their other two Massachusetts rugby championship in 2011 and 2014. The co-head coaches are Phil Humphrey and Skip Barry. Tom Wynne ’10 is the assistant coach. Dr. Michel Arcand ’82, Dave Mandeville ’09, Mike Berling and Jim Pierce are volunteers.
