The Senior Experience Program at Bishop Hendricken is designed to afford all seniors an opportunity to obtain volunteer work placement in the community for ten days in the spring of their senior year of high school. The intent of the program is to provide exposure to various career paths or professions that might be of interest to the student.
Over the years Hendricken seniors have been placed in such notable establishments as Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Raytheon Corporation, the Rhode Island State House, the Community Food Bank, numerous doctors’ and lawyers’ offices, colleges and universities, as well as many schools, parish and community centers. This program offers graduating seniors a first hand, close up view of “life after college,” and has been an integral part of the Hendricken experience for many decades.
2018 Senior Experience Program
The Senior Experience Program runs this year on ten Mondays, beginning on March 12, 2018 and ending on May 21, 2018. Please note: There is no Senior Experience on April 16, 2018 during the April vacation week.
Students are expected to provide a minimum of six hours of work at their placement each week. There can be no compensation for the work performed. The program is mandatory for all seniors, and successful completion is a graduation requirement for Bishop Hendricken High School.
The Senior Experience Program days count as school days for seniors and therefore missing any days of the program will require making up the day missed on weekends, during the April vacation week, or after normal school hours.
Each student must provide the name, address, phone number, and email address for their placement, along with the name of a specific contact person.
