School Transcripts/Teacher Recommendations

The Admissions Office will request transcripts and a teacher recommendation from your school after the entrance examination in December. Additional recommendations are not required but you may submit them directly to the Office of Admissions if you wish.

Entrance Examination

All students applying to the 8th, 9th and 10th grade are required to take the Catholic High School Placement Test, or HSPT.

The next exam will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 8:15am

Applicants are strongly advised to take the Entrance Exam at their first choice school. Students who take the exam at Bishop Hendricken High School will be given priority consideration for admissions, merit scholarships and financial aid review.  If you are sick and unable to attend the exam, please call the Admissions Office at 401.739.3450, ext. 163 to arrange a make-up exam.

Merit Scholarships & The Entrance Exam

Bishop Hendricken offers over 20 merit scholarships to incoming freshmen based on their performance in the top 3-5% on the entrance exam taken here at Hendricken. Please note: There are no scholarships available to incoming 8th grade students, only for 9th grade. However, 8th Grade SELECT applicants may apply for financial aid.

Students applying for the 11th grade are not required to take the entrance exam. Instead, candidates for the 11th grade should submit their transcripts, most recent standardized testing, and two letters of recommendation from current teachers.

Notification of Admission

Students who complete the application process by January 1 will be considered among the first pool of applicants, and notification letters will be mailed on January 26, 2018. After this date, Admissions decisions will be made on a rolling basis as applications are complete, and provided seats are available. Families are strongly encouraged to begin the admissions process in the fall of the 8th grade year if applying for freshman admissions, or the fall of 7th grade if applying for the 8th grade SELECT Honors Institute.
