godspell drama

The Bishop Hendricken Drama program is an exceptional theater arts community for young actors, directors, playwrights, designers and technical students.

Students of all abilities and interests can join together to take part in an exciting and enriching program. Young ladies from Catholic, public, and private schools join the men of Hendricken each season to produce high quality theater productions.

Mr. Richard Sylvia, Drama Program Coordinator

Drama Highlights

  • The Drama program is in residence in the beautiful air-conditioned 350-seat Dr. Daniel S. Harrop Theater. The theater boasts a full cat-walk grid, state-of-the-art light, sound, and projection systems, and a thrust stage that brings all the drama right out to the audience.
  • In addition to acting, opportunities behind-the-scenes exist with our technical crew, including production elements such as stage management, lighting, sound, props, video, carpentry, painting, rigging, and design.
  • The Drama Arts Academy performs annually in the RI State Drama Festival, producing a variety of original and published pieces. In 2015, our original production of The Trojan War…More or Less won the festival, and was selected to represent the state at the New England Drama Festival in Maine.
  • Paramount, our competitive show choir, is the only group of its nature in the state of Rhode Island. Since its creation in 2014, the ensemble has won several awards, including: Best Male & Female Soloists, Best Vocals, Best Choreography, and Grand Champion.
  • In recent years, students have performed Off-Broadway in New York City, at the Fringe Festival in Scotland, at the Trinity Repertory Company, and in Walt Disney World.
