WARWICK, RI (October 7, 2021) – Wednesday, October 13, 2021 will be a non-traditional school day at Bishop Hendricken High School for PSAT administration. Please review the following information regarding your son’s schedule for that day.

Grades 8-11

Grades 8 and 9 will take the PSAT 8/9, and grades 10 and 11 will take the PSAT/NMSQT(National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). Practice books for grades 10 and 11 were distributed at the College Fair; additional copies are available in School Counseling. Students in grades 8 and 9 can see what kinds of questions are on the test by visiting: Inside the PSAT 8/9.

Test room: Students should report to their test room for attendance no later than 7:55am. Some test rooms differ from homerooms. Announcements will be posted and made in homeroom before the test date, directing students to their test room.

What to bring: Students need to bring an approved calculator (Approved Calculators), several #2 pencils, an eraser, a drink and snack (for break).

What not to bring: Smartwatches or other personal electronic devices are not allowed. If a student brings a mobile phone to the test room, it must be off and turned over to the test proctor. Phones cannot be used as calculators and calculators cannot be shared.

Timeframe: Academies do not meet on PSAT Day. Testing will begin in each room after attendance. Students who arrive after testing has begun cannot test; there is no make-up test. Testing will conclude at approximately 12:00pm and students will be dismissed. Early buses will take students home.

Extended time: Students who have been approved by the College Board for extended time will finish testing at approximately 1:30pm. Parents are responsible for providing transportation for extended time students. Students with Extended Time will be notified of their test room.

Bishop Hendricken requires all students in grades 8-11 to participate in this important college preparation activity. Students have been registered for the PSAT by the School Counseling Office and there is no makeup date. Students may dress down for testing. Please contact your son’s counselor with any questions.
