For the past 30 years, Hendricken has reigned supreme over Rhode Island track and field.
Since 1979, Hendricken has won 25 state championships – more than all other schools combined – and the most in the history of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League. The Hawks have won every RI Class A Championship since 1978, and have also laid claim to multiple New England titles in the days when team scores were kept. The Hawks compete on a state-of-the-art facility at Hayden Stadium on Bishop Hendricken’s campus, including a track that underwent a full renovation in 2016.
In recent years, Hendricken graduates have gone on to compete for the following colleges and universities in track and field: Northeastern University, Boston University, University of Michigan, Iowa State University, United States Naval Academy, Harvard University, Boston College, Brown University, Duke University, Columbia University, Princeton University, University of Connecticut, Yale University, New York University, Cornell University, and University of Pennsylvania, among others.
