WARWICK, RI (May 7, 2019) – Please join us in congratulating our 2019 Hendricken Man of the Year, Brian Schattle!  Brian is the son of Jessica and Brian Schattle ’91.

The Bishop Hendricken Man of the Year Award is presented annually to a graduating senior who accrues an academic record commensurate with his ability, adheres to the Hendricken code of conduct, gives witness to his Christian ideals, and is involved in the extracurricular life of the school, as well as being active in his local community. The award has been given each year since our first graduating class in 1962, and is considered one of the most prestigious awards a senior can be given.

Brian is the epitome of what the Man of the Year Award embodies. He is ranked in the top 10 in his class, has taken nine Advanced Placement courses, plays three sports, and still has community service as the largest section of his resume.  He has devoted countless hours to being a Peer Mentor with the Options Program, as well as a member of the Student Advocates for Blessed Edmund Rice (SABER), where he works to support and raise awareness of veteran’s affairs, including representing the organization at a national conference.  Brian plans to attend Loyola University in the fall.

This year, as every year, there were many outstanding seniors who would be worthy recipients of this honor. Congratulations to the other finalists who emerged from the first round of voting – Israel Emmanuel, Matthew Hajjar, and Nathan Williams.  We commend all of our nominees who are true examples of distinguished Hendricken Hawks.
